Stephanie Lazaro doesn’t need a shower to clean up nicely. We’d still be into her even if she was covered in mud. But it’s nice to see that she takes hygiene seriously. I mean, it’s REALLY nice to see. Add talented photographer Jason Nakaya to the mix and boom! You got yourself a steamy photo shoot for this week’s Foxy Features series.
The bodacious model gives getting clean a whole new meaning. If it’s not Stephanie’s wet hair or gorgeous face that gets you, her outrageous body or playful personality will. We jumped on the opportunity to catch up with Jason, who takes us behind the scenes of this steamy shoot. Grab your towels, it’s about to get wet!

Can you introduce yourself and tell us how you got into photography?
Hi FAM! I’m Jason. I’m a Seattle photographer that just started shooting with models quite by accident. My mom teaches fashion design at a local college and a few years ago their professional photographer cancelled on their fashion show last minute. My mom asked me to be the replacement simply because she knew I recently bought a new “fancy” camera. Gotta love moms! I actually enjoyed the experience and got a few referrals from the event!
Where did you draw inspiration for this set and what vibe were you going for?
Steph and I were doing a short shoot for an apparel sponsor of hers and we started discussing concepts for our next shoot. We knew we had a great shower available at our location, but only about 30 mins to spare before we had to wrap it up. There’s no time like the present, so we decided we would give it a go! We were trying to give it a really raw and interactive feel.
What was it about Stephanie that made her the perfect model for this set?
She’s spontaneous, and courageous, and funny, and confident, and beautiful, and I could go on and on. We have a great relationship and it shows.
What was the biggest challenge shooting in the shower?
It was a bit of a mad dash. Setting up the lighting on the fly with only two speedlights. Plus, the bathroom is pretty small, so thank you Canon 16-35mm II L! Oh, and the lens was constantly fogging up.
If a model feels shy in front of the camera or is self-conscious about her body, what do you do to help her feel more comfortable?
Steph does not feel shy in front of the camera, but for others who are I’ll show them some quick peeks at the back of the camera. Seeing for themselves how great they look settles the nerves a bit. I know this slows things down a bit, but builds trust and rapport. Also, it’s really important to me that the model knows she is 100% in control of boundaries.
How do you decide whether a shot will be a good photo? What do you look for?
Mostly just instinctual. I’m sure there’s something going on in my head when composing and adjusting exposure, but I’m not really consciously following a checklist.
Do you have any memories from this shoot that stick out to you in particular?
I remember it was rushed and chaotic, but we were in our element and having a great time! We didn’t have enough time to do this shoot properly but we tried anyways, and it turned out awesome!
Any final words you’d like to say to your fans and followers? Anyone in particular you’d like to send a shout out to?
Thank you to my super duper awesome wife who has been nothing but supportive through this journey. Also, thanks to all the generous models and photographers that helped and encouraged me through inspiration, direction, and kindness. I never imagined that I would be creating this many friendships.
You can see more of Jason’s work over on his Instagram. His page is a never-ending sea of beautiful women that’ll make you so lost you’ll be begging for a damn map.
And if you’re not following Stephanie’s Instagram, your life is definitely less awesome than you think. She always lights up our feed with photos that have a wide range of extremely sexy to…um, extremely sexy.
