Dear 2016: You will not be missed.

Meet Monica Lam. Whether she’s wearing something slinky on New Year’s Eve, snapping a requisite pre-workout selfie, posing in skimpy underthings, or cuddling up with her dog Spencer, this Philadelphia-based model is someone you want to see throughout the new year.

Monica spent some time with Foxy Asia Magazine and shared her latest pics with photographers ARTNMARS and Atiba Sonnebeyatta. It’s just the extra hit of sexy you need to wash off the stink of 2016.

Hey Monica, welcome to Foxy Asia Magazine. How’s everything going?

So far so good! The year has just started so I can’t complain!

Let’s start off with some easy ones, what is your ethnicity and where do you live?

Honestly I’m a total mutt. I’m Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Chinese but hands down I represent my Cambo side. I currently live in the greater Philadelphia area.

What do you do to pay the bills? What is your job?

I’m a Paralegal full time, and I model part time.

What was the best compliment you ever received?

4 years ago I met a man who totally changed my life and when I first met him he said, “Monica, you are absolutely beautiful, remember that.” For once I received a compliment that wasn’t among the lines of “ayy mami, lemme talk to you for a second,” or “dang girl!”

If you wrote a book about your life, what would be the title?

Probably Panda… Only because I love pandas that much. Between you and me, I don’t know if I’d ever write an autobiography. But then again, my mom always told me, “Never say never!”

Can you tell us how you got into modeling? Was it something you always wanted to do?

Growing up, I always wanted to be a model, but because I was “bigger,” no one wanted to support me. After moving to Philadelphia I wanted to do something different, something that I would enjoy. Out of nowhere, a friend of mine suggested that I should get into modeling and at first I thought he was crazy but I learned that he really wasn’t. Later that year I got signed with a local agency and in 2015, I made my actual break in import modeling.

As a model, what are some of the greatest challenges or obstacles you face?

I would definitely say, surrounding yourself with positive people and breaking the old idea/image of your typical female model.

It’s easy to surround yourself with negative people and sometimes it can be difficult to weed them out, especially if they’re a good friend of yours. I had a friend who was like this and I almost considered her as my best friend. When she learned about me modeling, she would belittle me, question my decisions and make me feel like a horrible person. Our friendship went on for a while and eventually I came to a realization that she was poisonous and I should stay away from people like her. I stopped contacting her and after a month or so I saw that my personality and thought process totally changed for the better. This was a big obstacle of mine…

People are used to seeing a slim, tall, flat belly model, and over time it has changed but not entirely. I’m not your typical size 0-2 model, matter of fact, I prefer being a thicker woman. Sure I’m not six feet tall but at least I have curves in places some women don’t. This is an ongoing challenge which I don’t see myself overcoming for another few years.

monicamlam-5smphotos-foxy-asia-magazine-7What is the funniest behind-the-scenes story you can share with us from on set?

N/A :'(

You’re a beautiful, hard-working woman. Where do you see your career going within the next 5 or 10 years?

I can probably see myself managing a company or opening up my own restaurant! You’d be surprised what I can whip up in the kitchen. Haha.

Okay, time to dive into some dating questions. What qualities do you look for in a man? Describe your perfect guy.

My perfect guy has to be taller than me, know how to make me laugh, a total gentleman, respectful, honest, and has to love food! Is that too much to ask for? Haha.

Are you single or taken? If taken, how did you meet?

I am taken! We met almost 4 years ago in Minnesota. 🙂

monicamlam-5smphotos-foxy-asia-magazine-9Are you the kind of girl who’d make the first move on a guy? If so, what do you normally do to let a guy know you’re interested in him?

Oh no… I keep it old school. If you’re interested in me, then show me! 😉

So let’s say a guy gets lucky enough to take you out on a date. Where should he take you to make sure there’s a second date?

You can’t go wrong with dinner and a movie, but be prepared! I love sappy romance comedies that would make the typical man fall asleep. 😛

Fill in the blank: To turn me on, a man should run his fingers down my ______.

NECK. 😉
